Thank you, Paige! What I was doing in the picture is called the granny square stitch. It is one of the harder stitches, so you need to be comfortable doing chain, single, and especially double crochet. You could actually teach yourself the other stitches...they're not that hard! Just look at your library for a "teach yourself how to crochet" book!
